Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • USAJOBS API Credentials: If you choose to provide your USAJOBS API key and email address, these are stored securely on your device using iOS Keychain. We do not have access to or store these credentials on our servers.
  • Saved Jobs: Job listings that you choose to save for later reference.
  • Saved Searches: Search queries and filters that you choose to save for repeated use.

Information Collected Automatically

We may automatically collect certain information about your use of the App, including:

  • Application Tracking: When you click "Apply" on a job, we record this action locally on your device for tracking purposes.
  • Usage Analytics: Information about how you interact with the App, such as searches performed, jobs viewed, and features used.
  • Device Information: Basic device information (e.g., iOS version) for app compatibility and analytics purposes.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To Provide the Service: To search for, display, and help you apply to federal jobs through the USAJOBS API.
  • To Save Your Preferences: To store your saved jobs, saved searches, and application history for your convenience.
  • To Improve the App: To understand how you use the App and improve its features and performance.
  • To Analyze Usage: To monitor usage patterns and optimize the user experience.

Data Storage and Security

We take appropriate measures to protect your information:

  • Local Storage: Your saved jobs, saved searches, and application history are stored locally on your device in your Documents directory. This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
  • Secure Credentials: Any API credentials you provide are stored using iOS Keychain, which is encrypted and protected by your device's security features.
  • No Cloud Sync: Your personal data is not synced to the cloud unless you enable device-level iCloud backup through iOS settings.
  • Data Deletion: You can delete your saved jobs, saved searches, and application history at any time within the App. Deleting the App will remove all locally stored data.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

  • USAJOBS API: We use the USAJOBS API (api.usajobs.gov) to fetch federal job listings. Your search queries are sent to this API, but your personal data is not.
  • Firebase: We use Firebase for analytics and configuration. Firebase collects anonymous usage data to help us understand and improve the App. Learn more about Firebase's privacy practices at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

  • With USAJOBS: Your search queries are sent to the USAJOBS API to retrieve job listings.
  • With Service Providers: With third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf (e.g., Firebase for analytics), subject to strict confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, property, or safety.

Your Choices

You have the following choices regarding your information:

  • Access and Delete: You can view and delete your saved jobs, saved searches, and application history from within the App's Settings.
  • Credentials: You can remove your API credentials from the App at any time through Settings.
  • Opt-Out: You can disable analytics tracking by adjusting your device's settings or by deleting the App.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
